Hispanic leaders meet to plan evangelistic growth using literature

Nampa, Idaho (February 19, 2003) - Hispanic leaders from across North America met in San Antonio, Texas, February 5-8, to hear reports from El Centinela editors and marketing representatives and to plan for the continued growth of Pacific Press Spanish products. The group included the Hispanic coordinators from the various conferences and unions making up the North American Division as well as personnel from the Division. Pacific Press was represented by Miguel Valdivia, editor, El Centinela, Armando Juarez, associate editor, Oscar Hernandez, marketing representative, Bob Kyte, president, Susan Harvey, vice president of marketing, and Russ Holt, vice president of product development.

The theme for the council was “A Seed Today; A Soul Tomorrow,” referring to the way that magazines and books plant the seeds for soul-winning. The group reviewed circulation figures for El Centinela and set goals for the coming year, planned upcoming topics and authors for the Spanish Sharing Book of the Year, and discussed strategies for using publications in soul winning. Such consultations are important in order to coordinate plans between publishing house personnel and those who are directing the work in the field.

There was also opportunity for leaders to worship and pray together, renewing their personal dedication to finishing the Lord’s work. The council closed with a stirring presentation from OSCAR HERNANDEZ on the importance of evangelism and the crucial role publications play in sharing the gospel. – Russ Holt, VP Product Development
