Transition for El Centinela® Editor

Nampa, Idaho (July 18, 2013) — Pacific Press® Publishing Association and El Centinela® magazine announce the transition of editor Miguel Valdivia from the publishing house to executive secretary for the Georgia-Cumberland Conference.

Valdivia, who leads Pacific Press's International Department, has served on the staff of El Centinela®, the Spanish-language sharing magazine, for 27 years, the last 15 as the magazine's chief editor. "The Adventist Church has been greatly blessed by Dr. Valdivia's dedication to this sharing ministry," says Pacific Press President Dale Galusha. "His vision for evangelism through the pages of the magazine has made El Centinela® an integral part of the outreach program for members and pastors across the division." Pacific Press's International Department serves multiple language groups within the North American Division.

"Dr. Valdivia has been a part of our Pacific Press® editorial family for a long time," says Jerry D. Thomas, vice-president for product development, "and his expertise will be greatly missed. But he has shaped El Centinela® into a strong sharing tool that will continue to impact lives into the future."

With more than 65,000 copies reaching the hands of interested readers each month, El Centinela® brings the Adventist perspective to problems people face today, including articles on current events, health, family living, spirituality, and Bible doctrines.

As the search for a new editor and International Department leader begins, the ministry of El Centinela® will continue to expand. "With growing immigrant populations from many countries, Pacific Press's International Department has never been more vital to the ministry of the North American Division," says Galusha. "El Centinela® will continue to be an important part of the division's evangelistic efforts, as well as a powerful tool for members sharing their faith with friends and neighbors."
