Sharing The Great Hope with the world

Nampa, Idaho (December 14, 2011) — Earlier this week Pacific Press® held a special dedication service for 1,000,000 copies of The Great Hope that had just come off the press.

The Great Hope is an eleven chapter adaptation of The Great Controversy. The 1,000,000 print run underscores the commitment of Pacific Press® to The Great Controversy Project, a unique presidential initiative introduced by Elder Ted Wilson in which he challenged the world field to attempt great things for the Lord and undertake a world-wide distribution of The Great Controversy.

Why The Great Controversy? Dale Galusha, president of Pacific Press® explained, "Ellen White said she wanted to see The Great Controversy distributed more extensively than any of her other books." Quoting her, Galusha continued, "'for in The Great Controversy, the last message of warning to the world is given more distinctly than in any of my other books.'"

"In 2011 we're encouraging all Adventist members to read it and become reacquainted with it," stated Delbert W. Baker, general vice president for the world church of Seventh-day Adventists and chair of The Great Controversy Project Committee. "But in 2012 and 2013, we want to distribute millions of copies around the world field."

Both Pacific Press® and Review and Herald® are working closely with the NAD for a national distribution program.

One million copies of The Great Hope are headed for the West Africa Division and will ship from Pacific Press® in the next two weeks. Everyone at the Press has been involved in the project, with members of the management team taking their turn at packing boxes.
